Some Reasons Why Spiderman is Different

Spiderman, different? Doesn't everyone dress like an insect and battle criminals? Obviously not, but the real question is how and why is Spiderman different from other superheroes? Other than the obvious, he is the only superhero to resemble and act like a spider, here are some major reasons.

Although he has grown up somewhat, he was the first teenage superhero. Now before you complain and point out Robin and other teenagers, let's keep in mind that Robin was Batman's sidekick and all teenage superheroes before Spidey were sidekicks. On there own they may or may not have been successful heroes, never mind super heroes. Since he was on his own, he had to figure out many things himself, including how to responsible use his powers. With super powers comes super responsibility.

Also, although many super heroes are extremely bright, he is a genius. He seems to excel at all sciences and uses many of his own inventions to fight crime and villains.

Many superheroes have problems, For Superman, it's Kryptonite for example. But their major problems tend to be battling the criminal of the week. Peter Parker is a far more complex character and far more human. He must deal with the death of a loved one, he falls in love for the first time, has ongoing doubts about himself, and struggles to make a living as well.

He is also the most popular and commercially successful. He's even the flagship character and official mascot of Marvel Comics, which is high praise indeed!
