Spiderman's popularity shows no signs of abating, with yet another blockbuster film currently being made and with even more movies in the pipeline. A Spiderman musical with hit songs from Supergroup U2 is also planned for the near future. It is, therefore, of no surprise to discover that Spiderman fancy dress is one of the most enduringly popular costumes for children of all ages. With all the different versions of Spiderman costumes available in the shops and online, the choice can be bewildering, so here is a guide to just a few of them.
You wouldn't think Spiderman could be cute and cuddly, but now that Spiderbaby costumes are available, it's true! Spiderman fancy dress can now be bought in baby sizes, following the news that an officially licensed Spiderman costume to fit infant/toddler size 12-18 months has been launched. The costume includes a blue and red bodysuit with black printed web design, spider web hat and character eye mask. So far the baby Spiderman costume has only been available to purchase online, but if the trend catches on, we may shortly see Spiderbaby outfits in our High Street. Parental feedback has been very positive so far, with the Velcro fastenings and easy wash Polyester fabric scoring highly on approval ratings, although the eye mask (which is secured around the face with elastic) was criticised by some as being slightly uncomfortable for their child. Other parents remarked that an eye mask was preferable to a full face mask, which is usually an integral part of the costume.
For slightly older children, a glow-in-the-dark Spiderman fancy dress costume is available for ages four to eight and this is proving a very popular Halloween choice. A reversible red to black Spiderman costume is also popular with children and is available in sizes up to age fourteen. One side is the red and blue traditional Spiderman suit and the other is the black-suited Spiderman. Alternatively, if your child wants to combat his darkest demons, the suit for him could be a black suited muscle chest Spiderman costume. This includes a black jumpsuit with muscle torso and a silver spider emblem and sizes again go up to age fourteen. However, it should be noted that Spiderman fancy dress costumes are designed to fit snugly and, in addition, the sizes sometimes are a little on the small side.
Retailers are recommending that we buy early for Halloween, as the most popular Spiderman fancy dress costumes are selling very quickly. However, Spiderman fancy dress is popular at any time of year and once your child is dressed up as his favourite Superhero, you might have problems getting him to dress normally again!
